Tail Light Conversion for Honda Prelude 4th Gen

This is a disclaimer sayin I'm not responsible for any damage caused to your tail light lense, tail light housing, bulb housing, bulbs, tools used, your car, your oven or home. This mod is something that you choose to do. With this aside good luck have fun and take your time.

Ok first thing to do is pull the tail lights from the car.

Then take the bulb housing off the back of the tail light housing.

After you take the bulb housing off clean up the housing of the tail light... you dont want to cook dirt now do you?? After you clean the housing pre set your oven to 250* on bake. After its at 250* get a flat baking sheet and put the tail light housing on the sheet. Its critical that you only keep the tail light in the oven for a max of 3-5 min. You want to put the tail light in the oven to melt the factory honda glue to pull apart the tail light lense from the tail light housing.

After your first 3-5 min of the tail light being in the oven pull the tail light out and take a thin flat head screw driver and start prying the tail light housing from the tail light lense. Leave the oven on. You will need to do this a few times (heat up the glue) in the oven. Just keep doing this till the tail light housing is apart from the tail light lense.

Once you get the tail light lense from the tail light housing you need to use your index finger and push on the yellow lense from the inside (where the bulb housing is mounted.) Once that is done you will need to clean the surface of the inside tail light lense and tail light housing with a good window cleaner.

Once that is clean take the tail light housing and tail light lense and put the 2 toghether, at first the 2 may not sit back together the way they should. DONT PANIC!! this is fine thats what the oven is for. Take the baking sheet with the tail light and stick it back in the oven set at 250* and again only let the tail light be in the oven for 3-5 min max. When the time is up take the tail light out and start pushin the tail light lense and tail light housing together press pretty hard but be carefull not to push to hard and brake the tail light lense. When the glue starts to cool off, put the tail light back in the oven and again let it sit in the oven for 3-5 min max.Do this till the tail light is back together.

Once the tail light is back together let it cool off and re install the tail light back in the car. Now repete this whole process with the other tail light. Once you have completed both sides you can admire the awesome work you have just done. The best thing to me about this Mod is you now have a new set of really cool tail lights and havent spent a dime! GOOD LUCK!!

You can also get some fluorescent ligthing covers (clear ceiling tiles) at Home Depot so it gives it a fogged look.
